Fragment seems to be the topic of our discussions lately, isn’t it? From the Travis Scott Fragment Jordan 1s to today’s Sacai Fragment collab, we love it all! But just as we love Hiroshi Fujiwara’s work, we want to rock some Sacai too. So really, this three-way collab is a pretty awesome show of pure Japanese talent! Let’s check it out, and everything we know about it so far! And in case you were looking for more hot partnerships, New Balance x Stone Island is underway.
Update [August 20, 2021]: We finally have a release date! The grey colorway will drop on August 30, 2021. So if you had plans for that day, better think again. And we still don’t know where the blue pair stand, we just hope it drops on the same day too!
Let’s Talk Some Sacai & Fragment History First
First up, we got Sacai by Chitose Abe. The Japanese designer certainly made her mark in the fashion and sneaker industry. Her trademark is usually to use double everything on kicks and we’re here for it! And the upcoming Sacai Fragment collab is definitely not her first with Nike! And if you’re looking for a fantastic and colorful pair of Nike Sacais, we recommend the upcoming KAWS Blazers! You can check them out right here.
Next, we have the iconic Hiroshi Fujiwara and his signature Fragment Design. I mean, do we really need to introduce the “godfather of streetwear”? If you’re not familiar with him, then you definitely need a streetwear basics 101 crash course. So anyway, the Japanese artist-designer broke the streetwear sneakers barrier with the iconic Fragment AJ1 in 2014. That pair is worth $4,000+ on the resale market, so if you know, you know.
Nike Sacai Fragment – 2021’s Highlight?
So now that you know what a rich history both Japanese designers are bringing to the Nike table, read on. The upcoming Nike Sacai Fragment three-way collab is definitely high on our list of must-haves. And we’re not getting just one colorway, we’re getting two: grey and blue, aka signature Fragment colors, right?
Anyway, the upcoming LDWaffles feature suede uppers with double everything! Double tongues, swooshes, midsole, and mudguards. Moreover, the double tongues rock both logos: Fragment and Sacai! And another extra sprinkle of Fragment comes in the shape of text on the midsoles.
Although we still don’t have an exact release date, rumor has it that the kicks will drop in August 2021. As for the retail, the price tag is at $175, and the kicks are definitely worth every penny! Why? Because the blue pair is worth $700 on the aftermarket, while the grey one is worth $650 on average. So if you wanna start a reselling business, this won’t be a bad start, right?
How to Cop the Nike Sacai Fragment LDWaffles?
