Yeezy Mafia Is Back & Kicking! Does That Mean Good News?

If you’re an old Yeezy follower, then you know what’s up. But if you’re not, then allow us to brief you. Yeezy Mafia is back on social media… what does that mean? And who are they? Is that return a sign of what lies ahead concerning Ye and Adidas? We already discussed the possibility of Adidas and Ye linking up to cover all the losses the three stripes took. So, let’s take a look at what’s up in the Yeezy world. After all, it seems like it’s Ye’s world, and we’re just living in it.

What’s Yeezy Mafia?

Yeezy Mafia started out around 2016 as a group of Yeezy resellers from across the globe. However, in addition to sneaker resale, they became a huge source of Yeezy news leaks. They actually gained popularity because these news were true more often than not. In fact, even Jon Wexler acknowledge the group and “appreciated the dialogue they cultivated”. Yeezy Mafia actually earned their verification badge on Instagram and Twitter too.

However, not all good things last, and Yeezy Mafia went under fire from Kim Kardashian in 2018. According to her, YM reported false news about Yeezy Season 7. YM apologized for the error the next day, but well, what was done was done. A short while later, the account lost its verification and got a ban on Twitter. When YM returned, they claimed that Kim had nothing to do with all of this. But anyway, they came back and stayed as popular as ever!

How Did 2022 Treat Them?

So, 2022 wasn’t Ye’s year. From the post-divorce drama to his controversial comments and Adidas breakup, it wasn’t it. Naturally, the news on Yeezy Mafia’s account would mirror that. And that explains them going MIA in October 2022. However, that didn’t last too long, and YM announced their return on April 7, 2023. They also mentioned that they were quite close to Ye when it all went down, hence they cannot comment on anything. And finally, YM returned without a good chunk of the team because they had to lay them off.

Yeezy Mafia and the Questions

Although this return reignited the community’s question of whether Adidas and Ye are reconnecting, YM is silent. So this question remains up in the air, and we still hope for something juicy! Although Fear of God is a hot Adidas collab, it probably won’t come anywhere near the Yeezy hype. And well, with the three stripes taking hit after hit from collabs, getting Ye back doesn’t sound too bad.

What’s the Latest Tea?

Just when you thought things couldn’t get weirder, we get news of a new lawsuit against Ye. But honestly, this one hits a little differently! Apparently, former teachers at Donda Academy are suing Ye because of unusual and restrictive school rules. For example, the lawsuit claims the kids were only allowed to eat sushi and West wouldn’t allow the teachers or students to wear any jewelry, among other things. But that’s not where things end, because the two teachers had a lot to say about the rules in there. You can read the whole thing right here.

Although we don’t know what the future holds for Ye, we’ll try to keep up, especially if it’s about kicks! And if you share the sentiment, make sure you keep your eyes on our blog for the latest industry news. Godspeed
