A Lot Is Going On with Adidas Lately… Not All of It Good

But the absolute kill shot came in 2024 from Nike on Adidas’ own territory: Germany. So, for 77 years, Adidas sponsored the German national football team. However, the greatest betrayal happened, and Nike snatched that sponsorship contract from Adidas! 

And come 2027, team Germany will wear the checks instead of the stripes. This is one of the biggest betrayals in the history of the brand if you ask us. It’s kinda equivalent to UNC wearing Adidas instead of Jordans, or the University of Oregon rocking Adidas instead of Nike. The Adidas Shoe Box Is an April’s Fools Joke?

So, the sneaker industry went crazy when Adidas announced a pair of kicks that we’d only expect from a brand like MSCHF! You see, the kicks were not really… kicks. They actually are shoe box-shaped… literally! In fact, it’s the classic blue Adidas shoe box, but with laces. Moreover, Edison Chen went out and shared pictures of these babies. So naturally, everyone thought that it was legit. However, there was no retail price for the kicks, and Adidas said that you could get the price “upon request”. However, the main giveaway that this is a prank is the sneakers’ style code: AF0104… This obviously stands for April Fools 01/04, so there’s that.
