Sneaker NFTs – A 2022 Recap to Kick the Year Off Right!

2022 was an exciting year on so many levels, especially when it comes to the NFT world. But of course, we’re sneakerheads at heart, so we totally care about sneaker NFTs! And let’s be honest, sneaker brands are putting some serious grind into the virtual world through kicks. So what went down in 2022 in terms of sneaker NFTs? Let’s find out together to start 2023 on the right virtual foot!

What Went Down – Sneaker NFTs 2022 Edition

StockX – Kicks, NFTs, and Lawsuits!

The year totally started off on an interesting note with StockX. So the resale platform dropped their in-house NFTs that had a physical link. You can read more about the technical side of the Vault here. However, this collection features Nike sneakers, and that didn’t sit well with the Swoosh. Naturally, that led to a lawsuit, which is definitely not a first for Nike! You can check out a list of their most recent lawsuits right here because they’re pretty interesting.

Anyway, StockX’s Vault is still up and running, with the collection growing. It now includes more than sneaker NFTs. From accessories to collectible cards, you can find anything you’re interested in if you look well!

Nike x RTFKT Cryptokicks

If you’re reading this, then you’re probably already familiar with Nike’s acquisition of RTFKT Studios. That move was the Swoosh’s way to break into the NFT industry, and it worked. Following the CloneX collection release, Nike acquired RTFKT and started working on Cryptokicks, the sneaker NFTs.

The end result was a collection under the name: Nike Dunk Genesis. 20,000 sneaker NFTs exist in different “colorways”, with the option to equip sneakers with a vial to change the looks. Click here if you wanna do an in-depth inspection of the collection! But all in all, it’s a pretty cool starter project and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for it. What we do know though is that Nike is seriously pushing their virtual game, especially with .Swoosh!

Scottie Pippen Entered the Chat

Before we discuss this collection, we gotta mention that we expected a bit more from Michael Jordan’s NFT collection. You know, something like actual sneaker NFTs, but well, we don’t always get what we wish for. However, Scottie Pippen stepped up and dropped a sneaker NFT collection in 2022! The SP33 collection is a line of 1,000 digital wearables with special IRL perks. You can read all about the contents of these NFTs here.

What Will the Future Hold for Virtual Kicks?

Well, despite the NFT market hitting a low, all these hot projects (and upcoming ones) will keep it going. So if you have some extra money on hand that you wanna invest long-term, why not consider sneaker NFTs? But if you’re looking for something that pays faster, here’s how to make money online. And there’s always the sneaker industry that will never fail you! But make sure you get yourself a sneaker bot if you’re serious about building a collection or reselling. Godspeed
