Nike Atelier is Nike‘s new bespoke design platform focused on creating one-of-one, handcrafted apparel and footwear for select signature athletes during major moments off the field or court. Rather than being a consumer product line, it’s a creative studio where Nike designers work directly with athletes to tell personal stories through custom pieces! But it seems like the public might be getting a taste of this high-end line, and we’re all here for it. Let’s check out what it’s all about, shall we?
What Is Nike Atelier?
The word “atelier” is French for workshop or artist’s studio, especially one where couture fashion or handcrafted products are made. Nike officially describes Atelier as:
- A platform for custom designs for select athletes.
- Focused on important cultural moments, not competition.
- Built around craftsmanship, storytelling, and athlete collaboration.
- An extension of Nike’s athlete-first design philosophy into fashion and lifestyle.
First Nike Atelier Projects
Nike quietly introduced Atelier in 2025 through exclusive athlete creations rather than a product launch. The first project we know of was a custom black dress created for Maria Sharapova during her induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Nike later confirmed that Jannik Sinner became the second athlete to receive a full Nike Atelier look, which included:
- A bespoke GORE-TEX jacket
- A custom A.I.R. insulated vest
- Tailored pants
- Customized footwear inspired by ACG
The collection reflected Sinner’s background as a championship skier growing up in the Italian Dolomites and was created specifically for his appearance during Nike’s winter sports events in Milan.
Are We Getting Sneakers?
Yes! This is the time for the public to experience that air of luxury with Nike Atelier! The first drop that we should expect to come out is Désiré Doué’s Nike Atelier Merc Premium. You see, the kicks are a mashup of two interesting sports: football and running! You see, we have the upper of the Nike Mercurial R9, and the sole unit of the Pegasus Premium. The two colorways, black and white, will be available on Nike SNKRS soon, so keep it locked there for more info.
The second pair on the list is a lifestyle take on the Nike T90 Laser III, made specifically for Victor Wembanyama! So, we can conclude that the line is taking performance items and uplifting them to a luxury level. And honestly? We kinda love it, especially if we get to have a piece of it. Keep it locked on our blog for more sneaker and collaboration news. Godspeed!
