Jordan 13 Playoffs Hits Shelves at the Quarter Century Mark!

New year, new retro, and new hype! If you’re a Jordan fan, then you’ll know that the pair we’re about to discuss is one of the OGs. Although most of the hype goes to the earlier kicks, we gotta give credit where it’s due! And let’s be real, credit is due to the 90s when the Chicago Bulls made history and snatched a double three-peat. But 1998 was a game-changing season, literally. During that season MJ rocked the pair we’re about to check out: the Jordan 13 Playoffs.

Jordan 13 Playoffs – The Pair That Could’ve Been!

Remember when we discussed championship Jordans that MJ rocked during the finals? Well, the 13s weren’t on that list, but not for the reasons anyone would think. Michael Jordan consistently wore the Jordan 13 during the 1998 season and during playoffs. Hence the (rather obvious) name behind this colorway. Although it was a staple in MJ’s NBA rotation, he didn’t wear the kicks during the final. He was wearing the Jordan 14 “Last Shot” instead because he liked them so much! However, these babies didn’t publicly drop until 1999!

Retros Feel Better when They’re More than a Decade Old

Michael Jordan introduced the Jordan 13 Playoffs during the 1998 All-Star Weekend. The sneakers were eye-catchers with their design and the holographic “cat-eye”. In fact, the whole silhouette is inspired by cats and Jordan’s way of playing. However, the black, red, and white colorway didn’t retro until 2011, 13 years later. And now, 12 years later, Jordan 13 will make its big comeback to celebrate the silhouette’s 25th anniversary.

Release Info

If rumors are legit, Jordan 13 Playoffs will drop during the 2023 All-Star Weekend on February 18, 2023. The kicks will retail for $210, which is the current Jordan price for this silhouette. Although the kicks don’t have a resale value yet, we can see that the 2011 pair is worth $460 in resale! So that can kinda give some insight into what you should expect in terms of resale!
