Sunday, February 13, 2023, was a big deal for so many people and for several reasons. Football fans were excited to watch the Chiefs vs. Eagles, while some tuned in just for the commercials. The Rihanna Navy was finally ready for a live performance by Riri after years of absence. Finally, fashion enthusiasts were ready to watch the Rihanna Super Bowl outfit. And let’s just say that nobody on that list left the stadium or TV in disappointment. So today, we’re gonna take a look at the outfit and how it reminded us of a certain somebody! *wink wink*

We felt a lot of things watching the halftime show, we not gonna lie. It was such a breath of fresh air to see Rihanna perform after 7 years of nearly nothing. And let’s not talk about the cutest guest she brought to the halftime show: her baby bump! Needless to say, the fans were in shambles after the show. But just as we were recovering from the shock, discussions and analyses of the show started.

We’re not gonna get into the musical details, we’re here to talk style, and style she served! Rihanna showed up in a red flight suit, jersey catsuit, and leather corset by Loewe. On top of the suit, she donned a red scarf and then a maxi puffer coat with integrated gloves, both by Alaïa. Finally, the red kicks are a collaboration between Maison Margiela and Salomon.

Sooo… Kanye’s trending on Twitter again without even being on the platform! But when Rihanna started All of the Lights and Run This Town, many hoped Ye would show up. That’s not where the nods to Ye stopped, because everyone immediately compared Rihanna’s fit to Ye’s at the Donda listening party. Moreover, they compared the floating platform to Ye’s floating stage during the Saint Pablo tour in 2016.

And finally, the backup dancers’ outfits and glasses look awfully similar to Ye’s designs. Now, although he’s not the first, nor the last, person to wear such fits, he certainly made them his trademark. And well, we can’t ignore the huge influence that Ye had on fashion through the years.

However, one item in Rihanna’s fit is a tribute to André Leon Talley, Vogue’s former creative director. The man was a fashion icon known for his flashy jackets and looks. So the long puffer coat could be a nod to Talley’s red puffer coat by Normal Kamali. In fact, that coat, among a lot more items, is on auction at Christie’s!

The whole show is definitely gonna go down as one of the best Super Bowl halftime shows. Some others are 2022’s reunion of rap legends, Shakira & JLo, and Coldplay/Beyoncé/Bruno Mars!
