So let’s go back to the 1985 season of the collegiate basketball championship. The Georgetown Hoyas were coming back from their 1984 National Championship victory! And that’s the same year in which Nike launched their college campaign that led to the BTTYS Dunk collection. Many universities received Dunks in their own colors, but Georgetown was different. The team received its own shoe, the Nike Terminator.

These kicks featured the word Hoyas on the heels instead of Nike’s branding. And the design of the kicks was pretty similar to AJ1s and Dunks. So why did they get that special pair? Well, basically, the team’s coach was John Thompson, and he was a consultant at Nike since 1980. And you know, when you’re friends and family, you get special treatment!
