For years, StockX has been known as the marketplace for buying and selling brand-new, verified sneakers. But now, the platform is expanding into pre-owned footwear with the launch of StockX Listings! That’s a new feature designed to make verified used sneakers easier to buy and sell. Now, StockX might not be the first to the party, but it could very well be the life of that party! So, let’s check out how resellers can make that extra profit on pairs that they already wore.
What’s StockX Listings?
StockX Listings is a new marketplace experience that allows approved sellers to create listings for verified pre-owned kicks. Unlike the traditional StockX model, where buyers purchase deadstock products through anonymous bids and asks, Listings lets sellers upload photos of the exact pair they’re offering. Buyers can review each listing before making a purchase, giving them a clear look at the sneaker’s condition. So basically, it’s the same vibe as eBay or Depop!
But here’s the kicker. StockX Listings will be exclusively available on the iOS app to US users. Moreover, the verification process is optional, and the fee will be added to the total price of the shoe. So, basically, the buyer will be paying for it. And finally, sellers will have zero fees to pay at the launch of the marketplace! That will most likely change in the future, so keep an eye out for that.
More Sneakers, More Price Points
Adding pre-owned inventory significantly expands the selection available on StockX. Collectors searching for older releases, sold-out collabs, or discontinued models may now find options that were previously unavailable! Since the sneakers are used, many listings will also come in below the price of a deadstock pair. This makes the price points more accessible to a wider range of buyers. For sellers, Listings provide an opportunity to move sneakers that no longer fit into their collection without relying on local marketplaces or social media sales.
Sellers Can Join the StockX Listings Waitlist
StockX is introducing Listings through a phased rollout. Sellers interested in participating can join the official StockX Listings waitlist. Access will happen in waves as the company expands availability across eligible users. During the initial launch, Listings focus exclusively on sneakers. StockX plans to expand the feature into additional product categories in the future.
Why Does It Matter for the Sneaker Community?
The resale market has evolved considerably over the past decade. Many collectors are now comfortable purchasing lightly worn sneakers, especially when rare releases become increasingly difficult to find in brand-new condition.
By combining verified authentication with individual product photos, StockX is bringing more reliability to the used sneaker market. And at the same time, it’s maintaining the trust that made it one of the largest resale destinations in the world.
The move also places StockX in more direct competition with marketplaces that have long specialized in pre-owned footwear, giving buyers another option when searching for grails. Finally, if you’re looking for more industry and sneaker news, check out our blog. Godspeed!
