30 years have passed since Jordan Brand gave us one of the most unique silhouettes. In fact, the Jordan 11 is allegedly Michael Jordan’s favorite shoe. He actually wore it earlier than he was intended to because he loved it so much. And in 2025, we’re celebrating the Jordan 11 anniversary with 9 different colorways. How About Some Jordan 11 Lore First?
The year is 1995, and Tinker Hatfield, once again, was tasked with creating the next Air Jordan silhouette. And while that’s very important, it’s not why the story of the kicks is iconic. You see, when the 1994-95 season of the NBA started, Michael Jordan kicked it off in the Jordan 10. However, the Jordan 11 prototype was already in the works. Fast forward to the Eastern Conference Finals, and MJ showed up wearing the Jordan 11 while it was still a prototype!
In fact, he went against Nike’s explicit request not to wear the kicks because they weren’t ready to market them. But MJ loved the kicks so much that he couldn’t fight the urge to lace them up! These babies were the early iteration of the Jordan 11 Space Jam. Later on, he wore another colorway, earning him a fine for wearing a colorway that didn’t conform to uniform regulations!
